and again took more shots as originally planned.
Seems to be happening all the time ;-) The more the better \O

The bee-eaters make a beautiful colour palette ^Q^ ^Q^

What are we going to do for the rest of the year without a new TT? :-( :-( :-( :-(
Those colour on the bee eaters always do fascinate me - It is stunning \O

Saturday, 22. February 2020 – Shingwedzi

Driven roads: H1-6 – S52 – H1-6 – S101 – S135 – S134 – S50 – S135 – H1-6 – S101 - Confluence

During the night it was cool enough to sleep with open windows and what to say it was lovely as nearly the whole night from when I opened the windows we heard lions roaring and this even continued until it was time to stand up for our last full day in the park and this was again a fantastic one. We decided to drive once again our beloved S52 from the upper part and on our way back we can visit Red Rocks and after we crossed the causeway we stopped for a group of ground hornbills

Image

followed by some very curious warthogs

Image

who did not run straight away away

Image

and even allowed us a couple of shots.

Image

Then it got unfortunately a bit quiet and we stopped for a nicely posing bateleur in a dead tree

Image

and we carried on until Timon suddenly braked abruptly and we really could not believe our eyes as on top of really many trees we spotted masses of white pelicans also another lifer for us.

Image

Image

It looked a bit funny how they tried to hold on to the small branches with their really huge webbed feet

Image

Image

but obviously they managed very well.

It was such a fantastic sighting as the more often we looked up into the trees the more we discovered

Image

some were hanging around in the tree tops with others

Image

whilst others preferred staying alone.

Image

A couple of other cars also arrived but most of the passengers were obviously not interested in the pelicans and carried on straight away

Image

besides a family in a VW T2 who stayed nearly as long as we at that fantastic sighting

Image

Image

again it is once more really difficult to choose a favourite but we really enjoyed staying with them

Image

Image

as in the beginning we were a bit afraid that they might take off immediately but the longer we stayed

Image

Image

the more we were fascinated by these impressive birds.

Image

to be continued………
