The Basic Assessment Report is just a combination of the previous Scoping and EIA...actually makes a bit of sense?

Public participation is still paramount! \O

Got some "Artist's Projections" from today's paper, and it looks a bit silly, IMO...will post later!

Albei hierdie ontwikkelings gaan “baie groen wees”.

The Public Participation process for the Skukuza Safari Lodge will open on Tuesday, and the Public Participation process for the tented camp (new plan: luxury tents) in the Malelane area will begin end of October.

So the Skukuza Conference Hotel is now a Safari Lodge and the estimated project cost is no longer R 164 million, but more.

And the Malelane Hotel/Lodge is now a luxury tent camp and Lowvelder reported that according to Wright, EIA is no longer required for a tented camp and only basic assessement will do now.

The Skukuza HOTEL budget has already gone up from R200 mil to R225 Mil....only 200 was budgeted for in one of SP's 2012-13 financial reports... O**

We are therefore continuing with both developments. (Apparently no matter what any of the processes may say otherwise...great public participation, SANParks! )

Só het Glenn Phillips, uitvoerende bestuurder van SANParke Maandag in Pretoria by dié bewaringsinstelling se hoofkantoor in Groenkloof gesê.

SP don't want to refer to the two developments as HOTELS, as it causes concern and criticism and has caused negative debate over the last few years. Skuks hotel will now be a 3 star, with 4 star service...(Who dreams up this tripe?) :O^

Ons gaan dus voort met albei ontwikkelings. Therefore we shall continue... (Maybe not.... )
Glenn Phillips

Skuks hotel will fit in with the environment, and won't have more than two storeys. (I've never heard of a double storey 256-bed tourism structure with mod-cons like spas and the like termed a "Safari Lodge"? 0*\ )

164 Mil in 2011, etc. etc.

Stakeholders can register on SP's website regarding Skuks hotel (you have about 12 hours, so don't be late... =O: )
