S143 at Tihongonyeni waterhole. This moment broke my heart. I followed 3 Eland heading towards the waterhole. As they neared they even broke into a run. The trough was dry and so was the little dam around it. The only source of water was the cement dam and i sat in tears watching them circle the dam trying to find access to the water. This is not the 1st time ive seen this. That windmill is often destroyed by the strong winds but surely there is another way? This is the only water source in a huge area and simply repairing the windmill is not the only solution? It was 40 degrees that day and they must have traveled far to get to water because the veld there is barren from the drought. It really was upsetting!

Does the windmill blow over?
We found a couple of windmills in the area this October that were standing fine but water was not getting to the troughs from the reservoir, or to the reservoir from the pump.
