Re: Rhino Poaching 2013
Some agree with legalizing trade and others don't - that is fine. I am against trade because we cannot perpetaute a fraud and capitulate to the very gangsters that want legal trade so that they get legal channels to enrich themselves.
SANParks are very hush on the matter and the impression is that the Government that want to legalize trade. Read this article which looks at poaching, the market for horns, stockpile, trade bans, etc. etc.
What stands out is this quote
More reading on the subject.
Personally I have stopped all support for SANParks/DEA as they seem to be driven by greed and seem to lack the will to stop the poaching.
I support projects that are prepared to address root causes, like this and the Timbi Project
My 5c worth.

under the heading Trade ban in the article.SANParks has asked the Department of Environmental Affairs to put the proposal to the next meeting, and the SADC Rhino Management Group has asked for the same action.

Re: Rhino Poaching 2013
At the briefing the Minister said:
The proposal will be a 'one off sale' like the one off ivory sale a few years ago (yeah the one which precipitated an increase in poaching).
They acknowledged that there was a risk that it may stimulate an increase in poaching, but: 'we will deal with it'............wait,...........ca.....
....can....................can't ...................sp..............speak.............la..............laugh........ing......oh make her stop.....please.

Sometimes it’s not until you don’t see what you want to see, that you truly open your eyes.
