However, your photos show the bracts close-up

I think, it's C. greenstockii, with softly hairy bracts, slightly spiny on the margins

In C. zuluensis, the bracts are rather hairless and strongly spined on the margins

All the flowers are small "forbs" on a hillside path!
It is the bushveld one!
