Exciting to watch a kill and you were also in a good position

Yes just lucky timing to move Infront at that time I guess .

I only ever saw a successful lion kill once. And that was pretty far off. So, this is quite exciting

Love the leopard from the previous instalment too. Amazing how they are able to chill out like that with no care in the world.
(And as if they didn't have enemies either )

It was the first time we saw a successful Lion kill so very exciting and in mid day so very unusual .

and what a great luck with that lion hunt sequence so close to the road and despite the many cars around

Yes we generally avoid the sightings with so many vehicles with this one we were fortunate the lion went for quite a distance and many vehicles stopped so we moved up the queue and eventually managed to pass .

Hope you get to see one too Harry it was unexpected for us .

It was literally just before the rains started so still very dry we were very Lucky as this was a bonus day in the park as well .

So after crossing the bridge we started down the S30

Our first sighting was the back of some pretty birds .



And as soon as we stopped the did a quick about turn and walked upto the car .I was shocked .Not sure if they had been fed or what caused them to approach but they stood and stared at me .



I jokingly made a sound like paarp and they answered me and then I carrried on the paaarp paarp with them . The SO was in stiches as we had this conversation Still unsure why they came up to the vehicle though we had never seen this behavior before from any bird .

We carried on and observed a Elephant herd causing a traffic Jam on the other side of the river .


They were slowly crossing the road and making their way down to the river .


There was nothing else on the drive all the way back to the Lower Sabie bridge along the road .On the bridge we saw a one legged Egret


The river was flowing but not particularly strong .


We were keeping an eye out for the Lions on the riverbed but all we found was some Hippos and an Elle


We stopped on the S28 to see the progress on the Hide


Further along we were again stopped and told that the Lions were still on the opposite side of the road but now they had made a kill .We found the females and cubs had been joined by two males lions .They were all feeding on something in the grass we could not see .




Eventually the one male left and went for some water and Lay down away from the others .

A lone vulture had also had a good meal and was in a tree digesting .


We left at Croc Bridge to go back to Marloth .The Hippos did not have much water to wallow in .


A couple of visitors at Marloth that afternoon .




And our quick trip to Kruger came to an end ....

One or two o the elephants on the other side of the river have some nice tusks
