Mother's pride: Extremely rare white lion cub is spotted in South Africa as it gets gentle help from its mum
Two wildlife photographers snapped the four-day-old cub in a den at Kruger National Park, South Africa
Mike Sutherland, 30, captured the first photo of the newborn after tracking down the den on March 5
Daryl Dell, 40, said he would always cherish' the moment he caught the tiny cub being carried by its mother

An extremely rare white lion cub - the first to be born in three years - has delighted tourists on safari in South Africa.
Two wildlife photographers were lucky enough to snap the four-day-old cub as it hid with its mother and siblings in a den at Kruger National Park.
Before other tourists on safari flocked to see the lioness and her three cubs, Mike Sutherland, 30, managed to capture the first photo of the newborn.
The safari guide and photographer had been taking a group of guests on a tour from the Ngala Safari Lodge last Monday when he was told of the cub sighting and rushed to the national park to catch a glimpse of the new arrival.

Great sighting and nice pictures.
But saying that "white lions are critically endangered" is a complete nonsense... Extremely rare yes, but not more endangered than a normal lion as they are exactly the same species.

Re: White lion cub in Kruger
The white lion seems to be doing well. He was seen with 8 other males from the Shishangaan pride on 15/5/2018 near Satara.
It looks like his mane is the "normal lion colour".

Ja, the albino/leucistic manes are brownish, often!

Ram Goyel, an overseas visitor to the Kruger Park, was so mesmerised by his astonishing lion encounter one day on the H6 near Satara that his heart was literally beating outside his chest. To his greatest delight, the white lion was amongst this magnificent pride…
Ram told his story: “We were just returning from the N’wanetsi Picnic spot and this beautiful sighting came along and greeted us. It was a quiet morning and there were no other cars at the time. It was sheer disbelief!! At the end of it my family and I were jumping out of our skin.
We were so lucky and thankful that the lions were walking towards us. I pulled over to the side and just let them come to us. My hand was shaking with exhilaration so the video is not perfectly still I’m afraid.
The sighting ended a few minutes later when a few other cars showed up, and then literally pushed the lions off the road into the bushes. Just give space to the wildlife and be patient. Don’t intrude upon the animals. Respect Kruger!”
