Hear the one with the Ellie chasing a loaded jeep and trailer down the road, in reverse???

We had the unfortunate experience of doing exactly that. Our little man (dude), was on his first trip to the kruger, so we needed a trailer because his Mom needed to ensure we had enough "supplies" for about 7 months... I wasn't exactly excited to take a trailer, especially because of the Ellies. We decided that Biyamiti would be the perfect camp... So on our day of arrival, we were travelling on the tar road between Malelane and Skukuza and lo and behold, the big grey one stood in the centre of the road... Not a problem, I stayed far back to ensure we wouldn't bug the big guy... 0:
Obviously he didn't think I gave him enough space, so he decided a little head shake would scare me off! It sort of did, as I reversed another 20 or so meters!
But then, he decided enough was enough, and just came. In between me moaning at my wife to ensure Nathan (Dude) was ok (Because a mother will save her son from a mad ellie), and me reversing at a rate of knots, I forgot I had a trailer behind me! Next thing I heard a loud bang, and that "crunching" sound.... Eish 0- 0- 0-

I think the noise scared the ellie off... It was either that, or the absolute roasting I was taking from Mommy... Either way, we mad it out alive... Never taken a trailer to the park again! :X:

Yes we feel the same way about a trailor :-0

During our trip in December 2009 we stayed at Bateleur bushveld camp. One morning on our way to red rocks we were greeted by a huge ellie walking towards us. He got up out of bed with the wrong wife =O: =O:

I obviously stopped a very long way back from him, but he was determined to walk over me...... As we watched him walking towards us he would break branches off and throw them in the road, and he just kept on coming O-/

I started to reverse and after about 100m i told my wife that not far back is a concrete bridge so i must either turn around or find a way past this angry ellie. Just then the ellie decided to walk off the road and i told my wife to hang on because this is our chance to get past............

Just as i pulled away MR angry ellie turned around and charged........... I reacted by breaking hard and the wheels made a huge noise on the dirt road trying to stop. Luckily for me mr ellie also heard this noise and stopped and the moment i saw that my foot hit the petrol and off we went with speed. Right after that when i looked in my rear view mirror i saw mr ellie standing in the middle of the road between all the dust very upset =O: =O: =O:

Obviously i stopped about 1km down the road, downed a X#X to see if it could help with the shock. :o0ps:
