Fantastic hyena sighting ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^
We have also seen them going head-first down as if they are looking under the water. Sometimes they will hide food underwater so perhaps they are checking for leftovers lol lol

It is funny that hyenas love the water so much, but they sure are fun to watch ^Q^ ^Q^

Lovely wax-bill \O

Rhino and hyena...they often put their food in the water, or so the theory goes? Maybe it was taken! lol

One of the hyaenas could still be seen in the vicinity of the waterhole same obviously waited for its companions

Image

but both could not be dragged away from their private pool

Image

and then finally both of them ended in the waterhole

Image

and for sure it took not that long until the third one also came closer to check out why the others took so long.

Image

We even got to see some action.

Image

Image

For sure we already stayed longer than expected but it was simply fun watching them.

Image

"You are still there!”

Image

Finally all of them had enough and walked uphill to the queue of cars and crossed the street and got out of sight. We already spend a couple of hours at that waterhole over the years during our many trips but so productive as this year with all the different animals we saw there and were entertained from we never experienced same ever before.

With smiles on our faces we continued our drive and we met a glossy starling

Image

as well as plenty banana birds

Image

and had to stop at one view point where we do always stop when in that area at least once during our stay there to capture same.

The buffalo boys already occupied their private spa

Image

and chilled away.

Image

Lots of busy, noisy and difficult to capture woodland kingfishers were around and finally we could photograph one who sat still long enough as well.

Image

We came across another two rhinos

Image

who were busy in grazing but due to the length of the horn of the one

Image

same must have been the same we already met the day before. Gladly we also were allowed to take some close ups.

Image

A fork tailed drongo with a kill made us stop again and the bird was busy in making the catch as small as possible to become delicious bites.

Image

On the Mlambane loop extreme close to the S114 causeway we were caught in a traffic jam and were happy to find again a family of ground hornbills in a tree

Image

but the longer Timon photographed same it dawned again to me that this traffic jam cannot be due to the ground hornbills as from several points were cars stood the ground hornbills were completely invisible – We finally asked the people in a close by car what they were looking at and finally got the location of a leopard in tree a bit farer away.

Image

to be continued....
