but later on also the other stood up and now we even could notice three of them

and one even was begging for food – sorry for the number of shots but an animal we did not see that much during that trip

and finally they even posed together with a wildebeest

and a bit further down the road we met another jackal now even much closer.

Only meters away from the jackals we then noticed two kori bustards – a bird we often see along that road

one was lying on the ground and the other one was up.

For sure we could have spent more time at Tihongonyeni but we still had a long drive ahead of us and so we carried on after a while and came across a lot of magpie shrikes either on the ground

or in a bush.

Then it followed a quiet part but in the densest mopani field along the S50 near the turn off with the Shibavantsengele view point we discovered elephants and even more elephants also here we never saw that much elephants in that area and on top it felt as if the whole elephant population of the entire park could be found in that area. Luckily all of them were quite relaxed as it was a bit tricky to detect them well in advance when hiding behind a large mopane bush

Nice to have a big area that is open even in mid-summer...makes a change from the endless mopane!
Very interesting jackal feeding pic, Pumbaa!

I couldn't agree more! The light suits the jackals and the zebras particularly well
