RP, while we were in the park last week I also noticed them cleaning the braais by throwing buckets of water over them...in all the camps.

Our problems: (not too many but I'll mention them anyway)

We checked into Letaba on 27th October and found we had no soap in our bungalow. When we went out for our afternoon drive we stopped at reception and I went to ask for soap. Their reply was "There is no soap, we haven't had a delivery"...no apologies or anything! O**

In Satara (29th October) I was trying to cook some pasta on the hotplate...this took over an hour!! 0*\ All the markings have worn away on the dial so you don't know where it is meant to point. I tried every position...some didn't heat up at all, and some only heated up slightly. We've had this problem before...how difficult would it be to stick up a little notice above the hotplate showing how to work it? -O-

Letaba was C28 and Satara was B27. \O

Another gripe from Letaba (copied from my TT):

What really irritated me was the fact that the fridge was off when we arrived and to get to the switch one had to be a contortionist! It was about 37° and we’d been in the car since midnight, so we desperately needed to get all the meat into the freezer (preferably a cold one!). The fridge never really got cold in the two days we were there and we ended up trying to squeeze as much as we could into the freezer. The same thing happened the last time we were in Letaba, so it’s obviously a problem there. Perhaps they should move the fridges into the bungalows as they really seem to battle in that heat!

Just in case anyone was wondering why this thread has slowed down a bit, here's a media release from Mr Sibiya, CEO of Kruger, in May this year:

Media Release: KNP warns against false representation

Date: 18th May 2012

The Managing Executive of the Kruger National Park (KNP), Mr Abe Sibiya would like to warn members of the public, business community and staff members to be on the lookout for people who falsely and publicly claim to represent the KNP on various aspects of its business.

“It has come to our attention that there are online forums operating and claiming to represent the South African National Parks (SANParks), in particular the KNP by offering customer care facilities that discuss conservation and tourism related matters for guests. We would like to put it on record that SANParks already has its own established formal procedures and channels for handling guest feedback and does not need a third party to deal with issues on its behalf,” he said.

These people cite, in their online forums that their customer care facility is meant to assist with reporting of issues e.g. incidents or complaints concerning the National Parks; therefore complementing the organization’s existing channels. The administrators of these forums encourage the public either through own forum or media that issues such as complaints and queries should be posted on their forum. They then in turn approach staff members at the relevant parks/camps whom they can manage to get hold of, for a follow-up and feedback.

“Our employees are aware that only authorized and designated staff members can represent or speak on behalf of SANParks on any particular matter however we cannot prevent them or any member of the public from joining these online forums in their individual capacity;” concluded Sibiya.

To submit feedback on SANParks, customers should use the official online web addresses as follows:

Complaints, compliments and queries on:
http://www.sanparks.org/about/contact/

This is silly, as evinced by the successes and appreciation expressed from camp and duty managers in the past. The underlined bit is a blatant lie, as it says the following in big red letters on the first page of this thread, and we would certainly never dream of trying to represent SanParks! 0- =O:

"IT MUST BE STRESSED THAT THIS IS IN NO WAY AN ATTEMPT TO UNDERMINE THE RELEVANT CHANNELS OF COMPLAINT ALREADY IN PLACE OFFICIALLY!

Rather, it is intended to assist and complement said channels, and provide feedback."

In fact the release confirms this! 0- -O-
