How many lifers did you score? You mention so many birds I've never heard of, so naturally I assume there must be more than just the cranes that are new to you too.
Oh, and I'm totally happy about the puppies - even more so since there seem to be more coming at some Point

Mel - Thirty lifers bird wise plus Wild Dog, Red Lechwe & Roan were new mammals for me.

There were a few sub-species ticks as well Lis, "Chobe" Bushbuck being one of the ones I wanted to see.

Packing up in camp the following morning, we were visited by a confiding Crested Barbet, as well as the usual Hartlaub's Babblers.
Setting off from camp back towards North Gate, we hit the sand roads once again, but arrived without a hitch and signed out of the reserve. Ruel then took us on a route South along the Khwai River. The track was narrow in places and meanders along with the river. We had to detour around one water crossing, but otherwise had no problems on this drive.
It's a very scenic drive, with quite a bit of wildlife to view along the way. We would find a suitable place to stop and scan for birds, or simply pull over when something of interest was seen. Ruel had a certain spot in mind for a lunch stop and J and I both agreed that it was probably the nicest spot along this particular drive.
White-crowned Shrikes were a common sight along the roadside bushes.
While frequent stops to scan for birds produced a variety of species.
A quick chat with one of the locals.
A typical scene along this drive. A herd of Elephants drinking.
And the stunning scenery where Ruel had planned our lunch stop.
What more could one possibly want?
