Re: AW 2016 KNP camp award survey.
What an honour and privilege to have been given the opportunity of delivering the awards to the three winning camps. A huge morale boost to the staff and their smiles said it all. You could sense the pride and feelings of achievement as well as appreciation of the fact their work had been recognized and rewarded. Punda are on a mission to be top dogs and lift the trophy next time.
At Mopani we were asked if we could spend a second night at Tsendzi so we could do a presentation at the morning meeting at 07h00. We were very happy to agree to this and it was well worth it. The acting camp manager, Tebalelo, spoke to me after the handing over of the award and said how proud and excited all the staff were at the recognition given to them and thanked the forum members for voting for them.
As we were staying at Punda for a few nights we were once again requested to present the award at the morning meeting. You could see the pride each staff member felt at being the recipient of an award for the camp. They are all fired up to take 1st place next time round. Garth, the camp manager also said what a huge morale boost to the staff as well as motivating them into doing even better.
I was asked to explain a bit about the award and the forum and in both cases this was interpreted to the staff. Once I was finished the supervisors (two in the case of Punda) spoke to the staff and congratulated them on their efforts and then thanked the forum members for their votes.
Tamboti - unfortunately on our way in the camp manager was off duty and on our way out he was in Skukuza. We had tried on numerous occasions to get hold of Paul, the manager, by phone to try and arrange a suitable time but with no luck.
A wonderful initiative by the forum - as who doesn't appreciate being recognized for doing a good job.
