Leaving the Park - 18th October
All good thing must come to an end and since we had to make the 1 pm plane to O.R. Tambo we needed to leave the camp at gate opening to allow at least a few minutes for sightings that might occur on the way out. Obviously, I was still hoping for Miera as we would pass her favourite hang outs and it was certainly leopard o'clock by the time we would get there
However, first up were those road dwellers near Montrose, now lounging in the riverbed instead.

We couldn't find the second female though With time pressing, we soon got on our way again, only to stop again about 200 m down the road thinking that we now had found number three as well. Turned out to be a cheetah though
And the cheetah turned out to be Hanri Looking at her ears, it doesn't seem as if she was too impressed with the lions close by. She only shot us that one look before scrutinizing the movements of the bigger cats again. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to hang out. Usually this would have been a sighting that had us occupied as long as it lasted, but wee had to go. I was quite relieve a few days later to see photos of Hanri appear on Facebook, testifying that she got away from the lions unscathed.

Next we found a half asleep jackal.
And an orphaned eland calf

With no sign of Miera anywhere between Batulama and Gemsbokplein we left the park with yet another lion sightings close to Houmoed -
One Eye and his friend... both looking a bit stuck-up that day
The End.

What a magnificent final morning, Mello!
Lovely light on the first lions and cheetah!
The lion with one eye does look weird...say it again!
Thank you so much for a classy tale all round, as always.
