Browns in Kruger - February 2020 (JHB Clan)
Re: Browns in Kruger - February 2020 (JHB Clan)
28th February 2020
We left early the next morning and the plan was to do a big loop by entering through the Malelane Gate, drive to Skukuza with loops off on S114 / S23 then H3, have lunch then down to Lower Sabie on the H4-1 and out Croc Bridge via H4-2 then on to Marloth Park.
The weather had changed and there was a cold wind blowing, so we assumed that sighting may be rare.
First up was a Warthog family
And a Giraffe having a drink at the water hole on the S114

And a Tortoise which we are not used to seeing in winter during our annual August trips.
On the way to the Biyamiti Weir we stopped to watch an Ellie shaking a tree.

At the Biyamiti Weir we found a pride scattered across both sides of the weir. Most were hiding from the cold wind, luckily this lady was braving the cold and posing for a few photos.
We have a few minutes alone before 2 OSVs pulled in, so we moved off to the other side of the weir where this sickly young lion was lying under a bush. It looked very thin, but other than that in good condition

Clever route, SN!
I think that is a male giraffe, with a tail problem!
Lions straight away!
The elephant love shaking the marula trees in February!

Some or other African chief has cut off a piece of the raffie's tail in order to use it as an anti fly tool
