all
I am trying to figure out the most recent Genet classification for Southern Africa.
Can you please post your Genets here.
For identification we need photos with location and the photo should have captured
- the natural colours (not dark night time shots or unnatural colours from spot lights): rusty spots or black spots
- the tail showing the rings (dark or light rings can be broader) and the tip
- tail can have long or short hair
- the legs (black socks or light legs), front legs possibly with half socks
- a crest or no crest
Most wanted are any Genets from the Cape or any other locations other than Kruger
Or Kruger Genets that might be what was formerly considered the Small-spotted Genet (long hair, crest, black socks)

This one has a different tail pattern, the light rings are very broad.

That's the other species with the long hair.
Is the hindfoot dark?
