As long as there are meerkats, squirrels and birds around, I don't mind staying at the camp, on the contrary, sometimes a "no car day" is what you need \O

The meerkats are adorable and often more interesting to watch than the big cats

Luckily they gave us the details of where they had seen it, still asleep in the tree
=O: =O: =O: =O: IT sounds like what happend to us also North of Nossob just past Bedinkt we got told by a friendly chap that there was a lion on the side of the road. We normaly do not worry about such advice but not seeing a cat for 3 days we where getting desprate =O: =O: =O: . Asking him how far he looked at his GPS and said 1.4km. Me and SG looked at each other and decided it was not that far so thanking the kind Gentelman off we went. 8km later and starting to get up set we finaly found the cat. A very diffecult sighting 8km further than was said. looking at the GPS where we heard about the cat and where we found it, we noticed it was about 1.4km , What the guy forgot to say was the direct route as the crow flies and not as per road =O: =O: =O: =O: =O: =O:

Great shots again ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

Monday 9 November 2020

We left camp a little later than usual on the Monday morning, I battled to get out of bed, which delayed proceedings a bit. :o0ps:
Travelling down south, we were greeted with a cloudy sunrise just before Sitsas.

A lilac breasted roller had taken over the pearl spotted owlet’s nest at Craig Lockhardt and posed beautifully for some photos on a nearby branch

The rest of the trip down to Kamqua was quiet, with this herd of springbok being the highlight.

Carrying on, just past Batulama, a lone cheetah was lying under a tree on the far side of the riverbed. She had the remnants of a steenbok kill close by.

We sat and watched her for quite some time, as well as the nearby meercats

Before turning around to head back to camp.

A crimson breasted shrike was posing next to the road for us

We spent the afternoon relaxing back at camp, visiting the bird hide

And catching up with some Cape Town friends who had arrived in Mata Mata, whilst watching the sun go down.

Later that evening we were also joined by what we think were 3 lionesses at the waterhole
