S133

Post by Dzombo »

So a while back I was visiting a friend and he pointed out the following to me.
Perhaps someone can shed some light on it.

He has an old map of Kruger. No idea of exact date
S133.jpeg
S133.jpeg (110.5 KiB) Viewed 682 times
It shows the S133 as being parallel to the start of the Mingerhoud Dam from the S47 junction to the H14

However in more recent maps
2FFDC523-CA6C-4D05-B263-1E2FD1C4C403.jpeg
This road now links the S133 to the H14

Does anyone know when this change was made and why ??

That must be a very old map because it also doesn’t show the access road to Shimuwini

Next trip to the bush??

Let me think......................

Yes, it is an old map. (He has framed it and hung it on his wall)
It's one of the fold up maps that one used to buy before the book types became more popular.

Mods : Please can you turn the first photo the right way up. Thanks

The S133 has simply been added/moved, but I don't know when -O- Maybe they have removed the "133" going from Mingerhout because it was often flooded, as was the case with the S47 last time I was there -O-

Also the small sand road, called "Shivulani", going from Erfplaas to Shivulani is not there.

That old road has been taken offline for many years, Dzombs!

I was there in 1992, and it already stopped at Mingerhout Dam if I recall. \O

Agree. But as Lisbeth said maybe to avoid road maintenance because this road is one of them that get closed very quickly after rain and damaged
