We normally wanted to drive via the S113 the Biyamiti loop but as already worried the S113 was closed so we had no alternative than to turn around and drive back via the tar road which are for sure not our favourite roads in the parks but please believe me we learnt them to love during that trip.
At least lots of dung beetles did their work
and sometimes I do feel for these little guys especially when the roads are a little steep as they then do roll with their dung ball of course into the direction they do not wanted to roll.
Luckily this one had luck and rolled into the direction he wanted and finally also the weather got better and better and the rain nearly disappeared and even the sun started to shine and we came across a lot of giraffes
who are still fascinating animals for us and simply have to be photographed
especially in this hilly area which is at this time of the year always beautiful at least when it rained enough.
A giraffe or better to say two giraffes were the first animals we spotted during our very first trip to Kruger just after entering the gate and so we do always have a special relationship to them
and we are happy that this is one of the animals you normally can easily spot on daily basis in nearly each area of the park.
Needless to say that impalas can also be seen in masses throughout the park and so it was today we simply love it when they are relaxing that way along the roadside.

At least we could cross the Biyamiti river along that road which was flowing quite strongly
as normally only puddles are left and we already figured when the river is flowing that strong already here we obviously will never make it this year to our beloved Biyamiti weir.
Shortly before our second visit to Afsaal this day we met two hyenas out of which one was
camera-shy and ran straight into the high grass.
At Afsaal a yellow billed hornbill checked out whether there might be something to beg for
normally that place is packed on a Saturday but this year we could easily got a parking spot still in the shade. Not far from the turn off with the H2-2 which we already noted on our forward run was open we had to stop for a roadblock in form of a grey giant.
Luckily he simply wanted to cross the street in a hurry as obviously on the other side the grass tasted much better.
to be continued…….

Your hyenas do not belong to the best looking examples of the species
Giraffes are not the most exciting animals, but very special and nice to look at

Nice greenery again, Pumbaa!
You write well about your experience, I like the giraffe relationship.
And the troubles of the dung beetle!
