Wonderful Tanzania

Post by stefan9 »

Travel thread as promised for my trip.

We did manyara national park 1 day, serengeti 3 nights and ngorongoro crater 1 day.
Trip was done via explore plus (https://www.exploreplustravel.com/), the local company doing the guiding was predators club(https://www.predators-safaris.com/) can't recommend either enough. Made our trip special.

Explore plus owners met us at OR tambo on the evening of the trip. Each guest was given a chocolate as a gift.
Our group was 15.
Getting to arusha for the safari was a challenge. The usual direct flights of kenya airways is currently canceled and two weeks before our trip they also canceled the flight from nairobi to arusha. So we had to go with ehtihopian airways via addis adaba plus a stopover in zanzibar before we got to Arusha.

The flying and waiting at the airports is the only negative of the trip.

Accommodation was very good. 3 of the hotels were serena group with the last night at the ngorongoro neptune.

Our first day in manyara national park. Saw some blue monkeys, vervet moneys, olive baboons, elephants, impala, 2 x leopard tortoise.

End of the rainy season. So had the odd shower, nothing too bad.
Roads were quite bad because of the rain they had this season. Our group had to rescue another vehicle who got stuck .

Temperature was very mild. a Bit cooler at the crater compared to serengeti and manyara. Got a little bit oppresive(like durban on a hot summer day) in the afternoon's in the serengeti.
