"Neville Sharwood · t3 sh1e6 ·
A few more images from the fire that swept through the Grootkolk tented camp on the evening on 27 Sept 2021.
For those concerned about the animals - don't be. The animals seemed largely unaffected and by morning normal waterhole politics resumed, as if nothing had happened. There was no Disney style stampede ahead of the flames.
Nossob section ranger Dan van de Vyver and camp manager Franco van Neel were amazing throughout, calmly and efficiently managing the situation . Dan can be seen hands on beating out hot spots around the water hole.
For those wanting more background please read my wife's post in this group — avec Mary-Ann Klein Sharwood"

I saw them too.

It must have been an incredibly terryfing experience when they were surrounded by the fire...

And I found it pretty amazing that a brownie came to drink that night and some lions in the morning.
