Okay - another dream shattered - the citril finch is a greenfinch. :O^ (Dewi O0 )

The birdies were quite nice to me and kept me motivated while marking papers. O\/

I was wondering where all the starlings came from and why they would reside in the middle of town,
but a neighbour here has installed nestboxes (even as part of the window frames of the house!) and
the starlings love them.

Still room for improvement on the greenfinch, but better than yesterday. =O:

Finally some lovey birdies

Spring is definitely in the air - the starlings are mating all the time. Almost like lions.

Also saw oystercatchers, blue tit, house sparrow, blackbird, herring gull, mew gull, jackdaw, crow, raven. \O

Also, I'm not really sure if the breeding season for the storks has really commenced already...
There was quite some bickering for the nests going on this afternoon.

The one who was already sitting in the nest declared defeat and left.

Romeo on the other hand was occupying his nest (would be on the right hand side to this one)
and couldn't care less about the other two fighting each other. I think two years ago, this combating
for a nest lead to one stork being killed in the course of the battle.

You'd doubt Dewi's competence - not mine, nan. I was wrong in the first place. =O:

Now that my marking is done, I can indulge in birding. O**
Went on an outing today. O\/

Catch of the day was the first bird right after I had got out of the car - a redshank.
I've seen them before but this is my bestest shot of one ever. So, here is one happy gal. :-)

Image

A pair of Eider ducks:
Image

Another catch of the day - a knot. Just like with the redshank, I've seen them before,
but this is the closest I ever got to see one. Even happier. :-)

Image

Lots of migration activity and this will take me ages to sort out who is in the pic. 0*\
Image

These are definitely oystercatchers.
Image

They were resting like this, when a lad on a bike rode up to them. I was watching with some other people who
approached him and told him not to. He couldn't have cared less. What an obnoxious brat! (0!)
