Hey, 'possie!
This is a tough one! Normally if I find a small semi-alive victim I finish it off myself using my vehicle...(Reptiles, birds, small mammals etc.) Don't know if that's illegal or unethical? but there we go...
Had an almost identical experience with a nyala hit by a car near Pafuri Border Post many years ago, same shivering etc. and was fortunate to be able to report directly to the ranger in person, as she was sharing Teba with us. I was thinking of leading them to the site of the accident, but sommer got a ride on the bakkie to show them...well done Sandra! And it was put down.
The point is, I would suggest in such a case go directly to the nearest picnic spot/gate camp, whichever is closest, and make sure it is reported, and listen to the radio/telephone/cellphone conversation. They shouldn't mind...
I know it's a schlepp, but one needs to follow up to make sure that the message has got through!
