For us the S100 is always a fantastic place to observe Carmine bee eaters and also today we were not disappointed

Image

This juvenile

Image

was obviously still fed by its parents at least same tried to get some bees

Image

Image

and sorry for the masses of pictures, however, same posed so comical so Timon pressed the button permanently.

Image

Image

The general game is normally on that road also plentiful and so it was today especially around Shibotwana lots of zebras,

Image

wildebeests

Image

Image

as well as impalas could be seen regularly

Image

and from time to time we also stopped for waterbucks.

Image

More Carmine bee eaters were active in eagerly catching insects

Image

Image

and also from these we could not drag ourselves away that easily.

At least we were meanwhile at the end of that road and very hidden we noticed a larger group of waterbucks drinking from the N’wanetsi river.

Image

After only a short body break at Satara we drove now into the Northern direction as it was still too early to return back to camp and not far along the H1-4 we noticed a larger group of ostriches who came steadily closer

Image

and even closer

Image

until they reached the road and crossed same

Image

Image

he eagerly not to miss the females. We had such fun in that sighting as it was incredible to finally spot these large birds from that close.

Image

Image

A bit in the distance on a log we came across a tawny eagle who soon took off, however,

Image

impressed ourselves with its flight skills

Image

Image

which were in fact extreme impressive.

Image

It got again hot so we did not expect to see that much at least a couple of warthogs in the distance and in front of a bush we stopped as we noticed there a diederik cuckoo who far too seen disappeared but

Image

a couple of European bee eaters had chosen the same bush in order to return to same each time they caught a bee.

Image

Image

to be continued…………….

The hovering tawny is impressive  O:V

and what to say about the colours of the European bee-eater ^Q^ ^Q^

I LOVE all your birds, always O/\ O/\
