Re: I've got a feeling of a hot summer in Kruger
More buffaloes could be spotted and besides this one all of the others were still resting in the grass

nevertheless this one was posing so nicely especially with the oxpecker on the head

so we could not drag ourselves away as they were once again such giant ones and even so close to the road.

Nice flowers along the road could be photographed as well and for sure a break at Timbavati picnic spot is also always a must when driving that road.

Ratelpan was disappointment as there was no water available only far away to the right side

but a couple of birds could be seen such as this carmine bee eater,

a grey heron in the distance as well as a yellow-billed kite whilst same was sailing by.

We heard trumpeting and quite fast a large herd of elephants ran by

who chased away two waterbuck ladies who were grazing.

We never found out what upset the elephants and after the herd was already out of side a lone bull trotted slowly through the riverbed.

Re: I've got a feeling of a hot summer in Kruger
Due to the lack of water we did not stay that long and continued and now from time to time the Timbavati was carrying a bit water and so some waterbirds were around such as wooly-necked storks

and with a bit more water from the river now the general game got somehow plentiful. We noticed waterbucks,

giraffes as well as masses of zebras especially fell in love with that mom and her offspring

and we often stopped to simply enjoy the masses of animals around.

Meanwhile it was already extreme hot so masses of impalas made their way to the river

it was simply amazing to see that much of them in that very open area

and were zebras and impalas are around wildebeests are not far as well.

For sure we had to capture these beautiful and colourful lilac breasted rollers out of which one was presenting something to eat

to a beloved one? Sorry for the masses of pictures but could not choose a favourite

and a larger puddle was attracting again lots of zebras

who were extreme thirsty.

Suddenly we then reached an extreme open area and that was flooded with lots of general game such as more zebras,

giraffes

as well as baboons.

For sure we parked on the roadside and simply enjoyed that masses of animals walking by

while one of the baboons was on the look out this mom was carrying her offspring unfortunately most of the time her tail was hiding the face of the youngster.

Impalas were for sure also around

as well as to our surprise lots of white storks close to where we parked.

In between whilst photographing all the animals on a nearby branch a couple of Carmine bee eaters showed up and were willing to pose

whilst in the same time the white storks walked by as well

and finally also a juvenile Carmine bee eater showed up.

Re: I've got a feeling of a hot summer in Kruger
It took us quite a while until we could drag ourselves away from that spectacle but somehow suddenly all animals walked nearly out of side and so we could carry on only to stop at one of the many causeways we had to cross as there I discovered a very well camouflaged water monitor.

The rest of our drive was quiet until we reached the tar road where we spotted a bateleur on the ground, however, same took off immediately and flew away.

A stop on the high water bridge across the mighty Olifants river is then also always a must and we so enjoyed the view into both directions,

and discovered from the bridge waterbucks,

a red bishop in the reeds

and a black stork congress on one of the sand islands.

After a while we continued and simply had to stop for such a colourful lilac breasted roller with kill

sorry once again for the many pictures but I could not decide which to post.

At the formerly Ngotso weir we noticed a three banded plover,

and lot of different coloured drangonflies.
