Explored roads: S93 – S46 – H9 – S95 – H1-6 – H15 – S48 – S50 – S143 – S144 – H1-6 – S142 – S50 – H1-6
Again it was moving day and although the distance between Olifants and Mopani camps is not that long we took our time and after we enjoyed our first brewing hot coffee on our verandah we packed everything together only to enjoy another incredible sunrise at the Olifants look out point.
Today it was again a bit quiet in the beginning but lot of waterbucks could again be seen
and also with the Letaba river in the background.
A saddle billed stork was busy in catching something for breakfast
and we were happy in capturing another burchell’s coucal
before we stopped for one of the many golden orb web spiders along the roadside.
Due to the lack of other sightings we found ourselves relatively early in one of the loops close to Engelhard dam as often in that area it was still a bit overcast during that early time of the day,
however, we spotted more waterbucks
as well as a lone buffalo on the other side of the river and tried to capture without success a fish eagle in flight but the European roller sat long enough still so that at least we photographed same
as well as this nicely posing waterbuck ram.
Already early we reached Letaba camp for a short body break before we carried on and suddenly stood once again in front of our beloved pond where today a night heron
as well as one of the many green backed herons with a tadpole
and on top a woodland kingfisher could be seen.
