There are times when you simply fall over the lions in KTP lol But of course, the first one is always worth a few pics O**

Even a leopard  O:V and a kind of cheetah sighting ;-)

Your photos are superb ^Q^ ^Q^ Clear air or a new camera? Not that your pics were not excellent before \O

The wildebeests always make a good figure in pics

I am very happy to see that there are still insects around \O

Lovely stuff, Peej! \O

Completed your big cats already!?

I wonder if steenbok are rare there in the desert? -O-

Love the birdies eating insects on the car, never seen that! ^Q^

Is one allowed a X#X by the pool? --00--

Looks very inviting! O:V

Ja, way darker and also kind of streaked with lighter feather. At first glance I had thought it was a jackal buzzard, because it is so dark.
But looks good on a tawny (even if the name then is not appropriate anymore lol )

Great to see Botshelo again. He reigns a pretty large territory. It's so big that probably to thirds of the cubs born in the past 5/6 years are all half-siblings  But he is a pretty impressive boy. And when in a good mood a real poser. So, waiting for the afternoon drive O**

Shame for the cheetah though. There is a young male in the area who dispersed with his sister from mum in February and we already had a sighting of him on his own in August. Would have been nice to check if he's still good. But obviously, he didn't want to cooperate. 0'

Same camera Lis... maybe the air is a bit clearer there, although the heat haze definitely affected a lot of pics
We definitely didn't fall over lions on this trip which was a shame... I had been expecting more regular sightings of them given the amount of driving we did :-?

Yes kind of complete big cats... but the lion barely looked at us whilst the others were a long way off... we expect them to come right up to our car  =O: =O:
We saw plenty of steenbok over the dunes so they didn't seem rare \O

Thanks Pumbaa... nice to see you here. I must admit when you look at the sightings it appears we saw a lot very quickly... but there was a lot of driving seeing nothing ;-)

Yes let's see what the afternoon drive brings O** O** lol lol
There was a female cheetah hanging out near the gate for a few days that we somehow missed entirely... so maybe this was the brother and sister -O-

Our afternoon drive plans were very simple... go check the cheetah near Samevloeiing then head in the leopard direction. After quite a bit of searching, the cheetah was nowhere to be seen, so we headed over to the Auob and found our campsite neighbours parked up not far from Monro. Apparently the leopard had got up and disappeared over the calcrete ridge onto the dunes 0*\ 0*\

From chatting to them, it sounded like he was in something of a hunting mode, and then suddenly there he was again at the top of the ridge - a huge male leopard known as Botshelo O/\ O/\ O\/ O\/

Image

He then started to move down from the ridge - it's amazing how well leopards blend in with the KTP scenery

Image

Image

As he strolled down the hillside, he was heading towards a nice big shady tree so we wondered if he would just flop down again there as although it was 5pm, it was still 35 degrees <hot>

But the heat didn't seem to bother him... some scent marking before continuing his prowl ^Q^ ^Q^
