Re: The Lions of the Kgalagadi (or not!) KTP May/June 2022
Hi everyone. Thanks for your patience.
We are back from our short trip to Mountain Zebra and Karoo, which was great. Once this trip report is done I will probably post a short one on the road trip, we saw quite a bit, but mainly just the usual stuff
Debbie is out of hospital and in a step down after her knee operation and seems to be doing really well
Thanks for all the well wishes and comments, they are really appreciated
Now where was I ??
Tuesday 7 June 2022
Kieliekrankie sunrises never disappoint
We set off on our morning drive, returning to the Auob and headed north up as far as 14th borehole
Along the way we came across an African wild cat, but no pic unfortunately and thereafter
This secretary bird all puffed up
As was this Lilac breasted roller

Then near Montrose a family of meercats warming themselves in the morning sun
The one juvenile was clearly not a morning person and trying very hard to catch a few more winks sleep

After Kamqua it was the turn of the giraffe and springboks to keep us entertained
A brunch at Kamqua and a rustig afternoon back at camp was the order of the rest of the day until our evening drive

Glad to hear that Debbie is doing alright
Love the meerkats. They look so very fluffy. Probably their winter coat
Beautiful sunrise at Kielie. Wish I was there![Love [Luv]](./images/smilies/icon_cuinlove.gif)

The meerkats are very special
The view from Kieli Krankie is endless

Well done to Debbie!
Those meerkats sure can pose!
Didn't even know there were wild cats there, Gavin!

Thanks once again for all your well wishes. Debbie is doing fine and soon Usain Bolt will need to watch his back
The highlights of our afternoon drive were this stunning photo of my favourite (non raptor) bird, a fork tailed drongo
As well as some pics of a vulture tree
