Glad you found yourself a leo
And how nice to have an owl in the camp

Well done, Gavin!
It is rare to see steenbok drinking here, maybe different in the desert?
My favourite owl species!

Thank you all for waiting for my next post
Been a busy time to and from step down facilities, but Debbie is home tomorrow
Thursday 9 June 2022
We had a mixed bag of sightings on this our 13th day in the park, and at the end of it, we were still to see our first lions.
The sunrises at Rooiputs...... I can never get enough of them.
Today’s was as spectacular as the one before and the one still to come
We set off north towards Kij Kij and saw very little.
Taking the Lower Dune Road, we soon came upon these sand grouses on the road.
We hadn’t seen too many of them this trip so we took a while to watch them.

Further on a steenbok watching us carefully, before bolting away
And a lone gemsbok doing the same
Our fortunes changed on the way back to Kij Kij
A brown Hyena, obviously out late and in trouble from his spouse was making a dash back to his den.
( a bit of poetic licence, but why not

)

And some of my pics as well
They eventually left the waterhole and set off into the dunes

And on the way home some wildebeest
And not one, but two fleeting sightings of caracal, on the far (Botswana) side of the valley, so a bit far away
Proof pics
