Saturday 4 June 2022

Based on the number of photos taken on the day, this must rank as being our quietest day EVER in the Kgalagadi regarding animal sightings

In between the two of us we took exactly one photo

Of this jackal and a grebe, at the Polentswa waterhole.
It was really interesting to see how it ducked under the water whenever a lanner came past O:V

After spending quite a while at the waterhole, we drove south as far as Langklaas, but the road was terrible, so we returned to camp and spent the day in camp, getting ready for our move to Kieliekrankie the next day.

We really enjoyed the time out and starting to relax. :-)

I suppose that’s the trade off, a relaxing day in camp versus driving around looking for animals.

We did get a few sunset pictures though

Sunday 5 June 2022

We packed up our camp at Polentswa and left at 8am, which isn’t too bad considering that the “gates” only open at 7.30 in June

We went to the waterhole, which was quiet and said our farewells to Gavin and Christine, as well as to their companions Rian and Lynette, before setting off south

The trip down to Nossob was uneventful, except for the locals we saw along the way

A bit further a snake was slithering across the road

We got to Nossob just before mid-day and after filling up with supplies we carried on along on our way

We were almost at Dikbaardskolk when we came across a car on the side of the road. They or rather she had spotted two cheetahs on the top of the dune on the far eastern (Botswana) side of the riverbed
After a lot of looking, we eventually spotted them

A proof pic of note, but some more cheetahs to add to the list

Further on, along the dune road we were graced by this steenbok in the road

We arrived at Kieliekrankie and after moving into unit no 4, settled in for the night

It had been a while since our last visit. And whilst some of the memories had faded, the sunset certainly hadn’t

You had quite a few "empty" days during this trip :-(

How white the white of the black-winged kite is ;-)

Funny that the steenboks are only seen along the dune roads :-?
