"While efforts are being directed in the Karanga area, other fires have broken out in those of Mandara, in the Marangu district, and Ubetu Samanga, on the side of the Rombo district in Kilimanjaro National Park, affecting natural vegetation and wildlife. Majaliwa said in Parliament without giving further details. Nearly 900 soldiers have been mobilized to reinforce firefighters and volunteers trying to put out the fire in the Karanga area.

"Most of the areas are under control, the government is investigating the cause of the fires to take appropriate action," continued the premier, adding that the executive intends to invest in cutting-edge technologies to detect fires early.

Last week, authorities deemed the flames under control, but strong winds sent them to other areas of the mountain.
