Good news is that the "Kruger 4", including a ranger, were again denied bail yesterday, this time in the High Court. "Big Joe" Nyalungu, a major mastermind, was also denied bail at the beginning of the week!

Looking at the last few months' killings, it would seem to contradict the SanParks statement that "most poaching is done from Mozambique"...which is a major reason they give for their Buffer zone concept!

NELSPRUIT - Die streeksveldwagter van Vlakteplaas in die Nasionale Krugerwildtuin (NKW) se man is verlede week gevonnis op ‘n klag van die onwettige besit van ‘n renosterhoring.


Me. Agnes Mukondeleli se man, mnr. Rexon Themba Tibane (41), het skuldig gepleit en is tot drie jaar gevangenisstraf gevonnis, opgeskort vir vyf jaar.


Sy medebeskuldigde, mnr. Patrick Enock Mkansi (26), het ook voorheen skuldig gepleit op dieselfde aanklag en is dieselfde vonnis opgelê. Volgens Mkansi se pleitverduideliking het hy die horing van ‘n swartrenoster by sy pa gekry. Hy weet nie hoe sy pa aan die horing gekom het nie en dié is intussen dood. Tibane het hom toe in Junie verlede jaar genader en aangebied om die horing namens hom te gaan verkoop.


Die polisie het inligting ontvang dat Tibane op die punt was om die horing te verkoop en het hom voorgekeer. Mnr. William Mabasa, ‘n woordvoerder van die wildtuin, het by navraag gesê dat Tibane die egpaar se voertuig ten tye van die voorval bestuur het.


Mukondeleli is in kennis gestel dat die voertuig vir ‘n misdaad aangewend is en gewaarsku dat, sou die voertuig weer vir ‘n onwettige daad aangewend word, dit gekonfiskeer sal word.

Two males arrested for possession of rhino horn

Police have arrested two males for illegal possession of a rhino horn in Yeoville, Johannesburg. The two, aged 53 and 57 were arrested on Sunday afternoon following a tip off from members of the public. Information received indicated that the men were busy cutting a rhino horn at the corner of Hopkins and Kenmere Street in Yeoville. When police arrived, they found the men grinding a rhino horn.

Police confiscated the horn, seven unknown animal horns, one grinder, a scale, a sword and a rhino carcass. The suspects (who are both foreign nationals) were arrested and will appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate Court on Tuesday. They are charged will illegal possession of a rhino horn. The rest of the horns found will be verified, as well as the suspects’ residential status in South Africa.

This is a disgrace and I wouldn't be surprised if we read more and more about similar incidents!

Big bust on the highway at a toll booth between Jhb and Dbn - 2 men arrested on rhino charges and ONE MILLION Rand found in a suitcase in the vehicle! Eish!

No you did not misread my post but I would not be surprised
if he gets well catered,. like in so many other institutions a
wrongdoing or misconduct just seems to be a stepping stone
into higher circles!! Cannot prove -it however we seem to fill
tabloids full with this kind of happening.

One get's a pay/status increase by taking a walk out the limelight.
