Re: Rhino Poaching

DEA came out that the first rhino that was poached this year was at Madikwe.

Kruger denies that it also happened there.

My question then:

Why are we hearing, from inside of Kruger, that there has been poached rhinos there this year?

I read somewhere that people on a walking trail found a poached rhino in Kruger this year. -O- So who's telling the truth.

If this is true, I must wonder if this also means that the poaching stats of last year were somewhat screwed...

The radio said one poached in Kruger this year!

But I suspect many more...

In fact, watch this space! :-(

Indeed iNdy but that carcass was found just after new years day and was already a few days old.

Mel.
The final figures of DEA has not been released yet, but they will not be lower than ours as all of our were accounted for.

Indeed RP.
A lot of mixed signals at the moment.

Penga, I was actually thinking if the DEA received the full numbers.

.
So was it reported as a stat for 2012 by SP or just ignored?

We did include them in the stats iNdy.
Let's wait and see if the DEA also includes them

They have been known to forget a few at the end of the year.

As for SP.
No idea.
They have not released anything yet.

Well, Dr Mabunda said one was poached in Kruger this year, as I said...which is also against the DEA rules, as they should give the figures! -O-
