I was recently informed by leachy that bat-eared foxes do not live in Kruger, this after me having a definite (cherished) memory from childhood of seeing bat-eared fox pups at their den. Clearly, what I actually saw were some other large-eared creature - hyena pups maybe?
I'm not sure how I got this wrong, but then, in my defense, I was small
Anyway, while searching for bat-eared foxes and their whereabouts, I was rather nostalgically going through some of my dad's old books, and found one called 'A Guide to the Game and Nature Reserves of Southern Africa', printed in 1972.
This is what I found inside.
It put a big smile on my face, and my SO was quick to say 'Imagine what the beer cost?' This accompanied by a very wistful face (a beer in the Park, watching the sun go down around the fire... sigh).
Needless to say, if the Park still cost that, and Skukuza still looked like that - beer or no beer, I'd be there on a weekly basis!
