OK lets be precise - 26 days and 27 nights.Richprins wrote:Almost a month!
Coming up next - our day steam train trip from London to Kingswear. I'll try and keep the pics to a minimum as they are not "wild" related.

Re: YEEEHAAA - I AM OFF ON HOLIDAY -NOT TO A GAME RESERVE TH
Okay guys, in order to try and keep this thread as "WILD" as possible I am pleased to advise that the name of the locomotive that hauled us to Kingswear and return was "TORNADO". Not only was it named Tornado but it proved to go like one as well.
Please excuse the quality of some of the pics but the weather was atrocious and the train was thundering ( keeping this thread nature related ) along at speeds of up to 75 m.p.h. Due to the bad weather I had to set my camera to 100, f5.6, ISO 500 and using my standard 18-105 lens, therefore some with shaking of the coach some of the pics seem to be bit blurred.
Paddington stations famous clock and on time as well.

Tornado simmering patiently - waiting for the green to go.

The huge 6ft 8 inch driving wheels of this monster.

The huge firebox at the heart of this beast -

Yours truly well ensconced at our seats for the trip. You can see how cold it was outside.

A snow covered tree as we "roar" (keeping it "wild" related) past at 75 m.p.h.

A snow covered field.

After we left the snow at Newbury we came across flood waters.

More to follow.

Thanks very much R.P. Fascinating indeed especially when one considers that a steam train engine contains 4 of the 5 main elements of life:Richprins wrote:This is fascinating stuff, stf!

Not sure if I would fancy playing rugby on this field.

Full speed through the English countryside.

Over a river in full spate.

Now some photos, again please excuse the quality but the train was doing 60mph along here and rocking liking a crazy thing, but this is the most amazing part of the train journey from Dawlish to Teignmouth along what is called The Sea Wall.

A few more Sea Wall photos to follow. I make no apology for so many pics but this ranks as one of the most scenic train journeys I have ever done.
