TUSK SIZE: Around 4% of wild female African bush elephants never grow tusks due to a naturally occurring genetic trait. In areas of uncontrolled poaching or trophy hunting however, this percentage has been artificially skewed – in some parts of Africa, such as Mozambique's Gorongosa National Park, over 30% of the elephant population is tuskless.
