Rhino census: Support needed for worthwhile campaign!

From the Facebook group Africa, this is why I live here:
RHINO FRIDAYs
294 rhino poached, 216 out of Kruger National Park

Calling all Rhino Warriors, we urgently need your help with this campaign – KRUGER PARK RHINO CENSUS !

In light of the recent article More rhinos being poached than are born every year, we feel that it is crucial that we stand together to call for an independent and publicly broadcast census of current rhino numbers in the Kruger National Park.
We feel that information on the number of rhinos that remain in Kruger and the impacts of poaching over the past few years must be publicised, as it is an area of great concern to all of us in South Africa at present.
We call on all the rhino NGO's and groups, as well as concerned individuals to join hands with us in this very important endeavour.
Please join us in lobbying SANParks and other government representatives in this regard.
• Write to your local and national newspapers
• Phone your local radio station
• Draft a letter to Dr David Mabunda, SANParks CEO (davidm@sanparks.org) or Mr. Albi Modise, DEA Spokesperson (amodise@environment.gov.za);

Please do not hesitate to ask anyone of your admin for assistance and guidance should you need any.
We are in this fight together. United we WILL stand against the poaching in South Africa.

This is great Toko ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

Duke has sent a letter to the SANParks board with a few questions, the census is one of the questions. The more people that put pressure on them about the census the better \O

Agreed Sharifa, we have gone down that road, unfortunately when a question becomes uncomfortable for the board of SanParks, they refer the issue to the DEA which is what has happened in this case and Minister Edna comes up with a vague answer that satisfies nobody.

The Stormers back line has nothing on theses guys when it comes to passing the ball.

Have emailed Dr Mabunda three times, Dr Sam Ferreira once and William Mabasa twice. Only Dr Ferreira replied to handball my question to Mr Mabasa. Not even a one line acknowledgement from the others. Nevertheless, it is an excellent campaign. I asked for the exact same thing on Sanparks two weeks ago and of course I am now one indiscretion away from BANNING. My post was removed in record time. 0=

No doubt, it's a joke and the cheer leaders continue O/ O/ I can't understand that, unless they feel agreement is the way to go 0- 0-

Have started a debate here: viewtopic.php?f=170&t=2344

I had correspondence with Dr Ferreira in 2011 already on the matter, and was told everything is under control, so to speak, with a spot of sarcasm thrown in.

This thread carries a lot of info:

I fear an independent census is not really feasible, and would pray that an SP census would come up with honest results, however embarrassing they may be! :-(
