I usually leave Marievale and head home in the late morning but this time I was persuaded, by another photographer, to stay for the afternoon. It was a bit blustery but the light was sublime and the wind was blowing in from the west which meant the birds that were well illuminated were also flying a little slower than usual. The hides are not so good in the afternoon so I parked the BluTuna near the north gate and sat on the open tailgate. Here are a few of the results....
Brownthroated Martin.
Lesser Flamingo.
Hottentot Teal.
Cape Turtle Dove.
African Snipe.

They are Gulls, not seagulls! There are at least two species that come inland, the Greyheaded and Blackheaded varieties, I've seen both at Marievale.Richprins wrote:What are seagulls doing there, BullTuner?
