Excellent sightings, Amoli!
Especially the otter and the marsh owl.
And great photos of the cormorant, the darter and the mongoose.

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.
Re: Marievale Bird Sanctuary *
My second (recent) visit to Marievale on 12 April didn't net me any bird-lifers but I did sight mammal-lifer so it was well worth the visit.
The Sun was still well below the horizon when I too this. I was trying out the D7200's low-light capabilities and I took this at 1/125 @ F/8, ISO-25,600! It's vey noisy but worth keeping I think!

Malachite Kingfishers are pretty common at Marievale.

The Hadeda Hide is great for birds but it is essential to get there early. When I visited on 27 April (the next visit after this one) I got there at 6:20 and this hide was already full - about 30 minutes before sunrise!
Back to my 12 April visit.
The Whitethroated Swallows were still there and the chicks were still being fed by their parents.
This chick took exception to sharing its perch and tried biting its companions feet to get it to leave.

When that didn't work it tried pushing it off.

There are great opportunities for getting some BIF shots.

Next up was one of those fast-moving African Rails.

A Warbler of some kind. EDIT - A Lesser Swamp Warbler.

I love the colours of the Purple Swamphen.

At the other hides there are still things to see.
Hadeda Ibis.

Immature Jacana looking like it's struggling in a gale.

Cape Shoveller.

And a Spotnecked Otter made a brief appearance -A Mammal-Lifer, a very rare occurence!
