North or South

This topic has been discussed many times and I’m still confused
I’m going to ask in a different way; thereby adding to the confusion:
Do I fish where the most fish are and fight the crowd to catch a fish?
Do I go to a quieter spot and catch less fish, but have peace while fishing?
Does this change over time, if you have kids, if you live close to Kruger, etc?

BC, my dad and I had this discussion with his cousin recently. They rave about Sirheni and how peaceful it is. When we asked what they saw, they said "not much". My dad unashamedly replied that we go to Kruger to see animals. -O So I suppose it comes down to what you want out of the place. If you are happy to spend you day in camp or take quiet drives without seeing lots of other vehicles, and possible very little game, then the north is the place to go. But if you're after the Big 5 then stick to the south. The Brat has told us in no uncertain terms that we are never going further north than Satara ever again! -O

One big difference regarding the North for me has always been the prevalence of rare antelope there...roan, tsessebe, eland, Liechtenstein's hartebeest, sable lately, and sharpes' grysbok!
Entice the Brat with that! -O

Fair enough! Ironically, my first real Kruger trip was at his age, and I was the same! -O

Oi this Q is getting more difficult each and every time I do a trip to Kruger
Just returned from a Northern visit, my 2nd time ever that far north all the way to Pafuri
2 nights in Shingwedzi - We did REALLY good IMHO. There is a lot of game, the only problem is they are MUCH more difficult to spot then South, because of those damn Mopani trees
But the traffic far less, so just for that I would vote North, such a special place!

The nice thing about going North of Mopane, inside Kruger, is that you have a long stretch where you know you are leaving civilisation...it really sinks in and is a must-do!

I think it depends on what your mood is.
Sometimes I don't mind the south with all the traffic,
but the grass and trees are so lush, that you cannot see further than a metre into the bush at times,
while up North, I tend to drive slower, and I have had super sightings of small antelope, hyena amongst others further from the road.
The south and central produces more raptores and cats (only my opinion).
