What's that bird - Junior Twitchers
Re: What's that bird - Junior Twitchers
Will wait a bit more to see if anyone wants to take a second guess at one of their answers, or even submit their first answers before giving the IDs. After that, I'd like to discuss the ones that gave us the most trouble and what to look for in these species in the future. Perhaps some of the Senior twitchers ( -O -O sounds like an 'ol fogey affliction) can give us some pointers here. Thanks all, we've had 6 participants SO FAR
, with 2 getting them all correct on the first try.

6 participants - good stuff!
God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Re: What's that bird - Junior Twitchers
Not surprisingly, 1-4 didn't really stump anyone.
#5 was the most troublesome, with African Marsh Harrier and Steppe Buzzard being chosen by some. (Will enter as a separate discussion below.)
#6 Denham's Bustard was also chosen - the difference being that Ludwig's bustard has a BROWN (not black) cap, and LACKS the large black and white area on the folded wing that Denham's has. (Distribution is also different, but that info. was not supplied by me.)
Bonus: juvenile Kori Bustard was also chosen - the most prominent identifying feature being the creamy white "V" marks on the upperparts of the Red-crested Korhaan.

So…anyone want to supply info. about the features that distinguish the juvenile PCG from the African Marsh Harrier and Steppe Buzzard?
Input from the "PROs" most welcome!
