Thanks for the comments everyone, glad you like these.
This next one I've kept the bird and leaves in colour and converted the background and branches into b&w.

This is also one of my older attempts...
I will try a few new techniques this weekend.

Nicely done Sprocky, looks like a real pencil & ink sketch.
These next two I've overlaid one pic on top of another.....
Moon & Bat (Bat pic taken in Mopani, moon pic in Scotland!)
Some of you might recognise this one from elsewhere, but in a smaller version.
Sun & Kestrel (and those are really sunspots, not dust on my sensor )

Awesome Dewi!
I hope you can handle a bit of crit, in the second shot I would have placed the bird in a different position. Just my idea.

No, don't mind criticism at all, especially if it helps me to improve.
There was a very good reason that I placed the bird where it is in the photo at the time though - the colour/light in the birds tail and wing matched the brighter parts of the sun. But on second thoughts after your comment, as the sun is round, I could have rotated it to fit the bird in another position (only just thought of that ) . I did try to match the bird's colour to the background in the darker part of the sun, but could not get it to look right other than where it is now. I still need to learn lots more on the editing process.
