Student: I have changed my mind. My favourite animal is the lion.

Here is a poem I wrote to Protest against their killings!

Protest Poem

Shame on you, cruel, heartless roach
Why these rhinos must you poach?
Your bloody hands that make us mourn,
All for the sake of a single horn.

Greed and money blinding you,
Now all that’s left is much too few.
All too soon there will be none,
Just useless horns piled by the ton

You get away with every sin,
As your conscience begins to thin
But if we took your life away,
Grey bars would cage us every day.

Hair and nails, they’re all the same,
But rhino horns gain all the fame.
They don’t have any special power
You may as well just eat a flower.

Your words repeat, by every letter,
“We don’t need rhinos, humans are better!”
I am sorry to say that you are wrong,
Every creature should live long!

Don’t you feel the shame on you?
Don’t you hear these words are true?
You leave this earth a sadder place,
You cut off your nose to spite your face!

A moment of your time – if I may
Today is world Rhino day
What does this mean to you and me
Not very much – by what I can see
We cry we moan - we do our best
But do we of ourselves invest?
I for one is as guilty as sin
But think - before you kick up a din
Sure I give a penny or two
And I am sure – so do you
But do we put our life on the line
How much to we donate of our precious time
I know we cannot all fight this fight with a gun
Nor can we undo what killings are done
But shouldn’t we look deep, deep inside
and let our conscience for us decide
Do we really do all that we possibly can
Choices, decision we can make as man
Many lives have been lost in the dark of night
Not only Rhino’s but the men who fight
I ‘m not pointing fingers at anyone
As I turn my hand into a make believe gun
I look in the mirror and know what I see
All three fingers pointing back at me
What can I do - what can I say
To the people who fight each night and each day
I salute you all without hesitation
As you do your utmost to save God’s creation
