Africa Wild Challenge - MAMMAL Checklist of Kgalagadi
Posted: Thu Sep 26, 2013 7:33 pm
I've been playing around with the idea of completing my own checklist for mammals of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park, but realized that it will take me some time to complete if I am only using my own photos. Then I thought about asking you to help and see how long it will take AW members to complete this checklist as a joined challenge. I will start off with a few and as we go along I will copy any contribution onto my list.
Each specie will fall under a separate post, but you can start posting pics of any animal and as I have time I will move your pic together with the others under one specie post.
Rule 1: The pic must be taken in KTP. Only species occuring in KTP are allowed!
Rule 2: Two in One etc are allowed and get extra points.
Rule 3: Scores will be given per animal pic (only 1 pic per animal allowed). See score card below
Rule 4: Only post pics, no comments. Welcome to add anything interesting about the species (the same as for the Bird book)
The winner will be announced after we have completed the list up to the common small mammals. We can continue with round two adding reptiles and birds, but for a start only mammals. Hope you will enjoy the challenge and if you have not completed the full list there will be no restriction to join the " SAMIK" club (Spotted All Mammals In Kgalagadi) later on. An index will be added later as we continue with the listings.
The prize is to have fun with the challenge and all contributing will be winners.
I've generated my list from the SANParks list and modified slightly to exclude vervet monkeys and baboons. All the animals listed can be found in KTP, except one that we might need to look a bit further north.
