Identification
Length 90-98 cm; wingspan 212-228 cm.
Bare Parts: Iris dark brown; bill and cere black; bare skin of head dark grey; skin of lower neck blackish; legs and feet black.
Large size; body plumage generally brown, faintly streaky; iris dark; face blackish, neck pink; white lower back conspicuous when flying away; buffy white under wing contrasts with dark remiges.
Immature: Darker than adult; lower back streaked brown and white; under parts streaked light and dark; under wing mottled brown and white.
Chick: Grayish brown; iris dark brown; cere and legs Grayish black.

878. Yellow Canary Serinus flaviventris

Identification
Length 13-14 cm
Adult male (S. f. flaviventris): Forehead, eyebrows and cheeks yellow; crown, nape and mantle olive green with brown flecks. The eye-stripes, ear-coverts and sides of the neck are olive-khaki, and the malar stripes are olive-green. The back is olive-khaki and the rump and upper tail coverts greenish yellow. The tail and wings are dusky brown, feathers edged green or yellow. The underparts are a rich yellow; greenish yellow on the breast and greyish-yellow on the flanks. Bill horn with a pinkish base; eyes, legs and feet brown.
Adult female: Duller than the male; crown, nape, mantle and back are pale greyish olive, streaked brown; eye-stripes, ear-coverts and malar stripes greyish olive; eye-brows and lower cheeks buffy white. Rump and upper tail coverts yellowish olive. Throat, breast and flanks buffy white with brown streaks.

Identification
11-13 cm. Small, finch-like bird. Breeding male has a black or white mask, ringed with pink or dull yellow, and a bright red bill and legs. Non-breeding male and female are drab, but have red bills and legs.

Identification: 22–24 cm, erect posture, short tail, heavy bill, rather long legs, upperparts grey-brown with a chestnut wing-panel, underparts white with black spots, face is white with bold black markings, underwing has a black and white pattern which is visible during the undulating flight.

182. Greater Kestrel Falco rupicoloides

Identification
37 cm. Rufous brown above with black chequerboard markings. Paler below with fine black streaks. Tail is grey with black bars. White underwings in flight. Distinctive white eye is diagnostic. The bill is blue-grey; the legs and feet are yellow. The sexes are alike.
Juvenile has a rufous, barred tail, a dark eye and streaked (not barred) flanks. This Kestrel is larger and paler brown than Rock Kestrel

178. Red-necked Falcon Falco chicquera

Identification: 30-36 cm, medium-sized, long-winged falcon, bright rufous crown and nape, sexessimilar except size: males are smaller than females.
Upperparts blue-grey, finely barred with dark grey to black. Tail grey with black bars and a broad, black black band and white tip. Underparts are two tones: Chin, throat and chest are pinkish-rufous or white. Rest of underparts, including wing coverts, belly, vent and thighs are white or pale grey, finely barred with black.

Identification: 100-115 cm, near-naked head and neck. Adult creamy-buff, contrasting dark flight- and tail-feathers, pale buff neck-ruff. Underwing in flight has pale silvery secondary feathers and black alula. Yellowish eye, black bill, bluish throat and facial skin, dark neck. Juveniles and immatures generally darker and more streaked, with brown to orange eyes and red neck.

Identification: 46-56 cm, often seen close to large wild mammals. Adult in breeding plumage is white with conspicuous orange-buff feathers on crown, breast and back. The bare parts such as bill, lores and legs become bright red during a short period prior to pairing. Eyes are yellow.
