Yeah , you can criticise us as much as you like , as long as we come out looking nice , and you can investigate corruption amongst us , as long as you publish only what we tell you to publish
.

Re: alleged elephant attack on vehicle
One of the caveats encountered in my dealings regarding distributing ellie meat to communities was the labour and transport costs.
I suggested and am pretty sure that any neighbouring butcher/informal seller would be only too happy to come and collect the meat, under supervision, for free?
SP take the tusks out immediately anyway.

Elephant attack victim discharged
2014-01-07
Mbombela - The British tourist who survived an elephant attack in the Kruger National Park (KNP) on 30 December has been discharged from hospital, Medi-Clinic said on Tuesday.
Medi-Clinic Nelspruit spokesperson Robyn Baard confirmed that Sarah Brooks was discharged from hospital on Monday, a Sapa correspondent reported.
Brooks and her travelling companion Jans de Klerk made headlines last week when they were attacked in their car by an elephant in musth at a waterhole.
De Klerk is originally from Pretoria, but now lives in Spalding in the UK. Brooks, a teacher, also lives in Spalding.
It was not known when they would return to the UK.
KNP spokesperson William Mabasa said the elephant was walking in front of the car while Brooks and De Klerk filmed it from behind.
"The elephant suddenly stopped, turned around and rapidly walked towards the vehicle, which was stationary at that time.
"It charged at them, attacked the vehicle and flipped it over, off the road into the thick bushes," Mabasa said in a statement.
Brooks's thigh was pierced by a tusk.
When she was stabilised, she was flown to Medi-Clinic.
The elephant was shot dead to prevent it from hurting anyone else.
It was found that the animal was not only in musth, but had also suffered a recent injury, which contributed to its aggressiveness.

Re: alleged elephant attack on vehicle
I just saw a shocking video of this attack
Trying to see how I can download and post , but anyone else able to do so , please go ahead . Certainly the tourists were much too close to the ellie , driving right behind him . He turned around , confronted them , then walked to one side of the vehicle , then around the vehicle to the other side , towered over them , then started pushing the vehicle
.

Great Nan ,
.
Now , IMHO , that guy had ample time to retreat . I timed the whole scene , and from the time that the ellie started turning around , until actually attacking , almost a full minute went buy . The driver did not attempt at all to reverse , but stood still all the time , and IMO , if they had even started reversing only at the time when the ellie stood on their left , shaking his head , then he would not have attacked .
It took the ellie another 40 seconds to move around the car , before it finally attacked it .

Re: alleged elephant attack on vehicle
Thanks, okie!
Hmmm....
Looks like the driver panicked a bit...maybe stalled and tried to restart and revved and what not?
Anyway, the ellie made quite a bit of effort to chase them away first...a tragic situation...
Certainly stupid!
Doesn't seem like a particularly enraged ellie at first?
Will forward.

Re: alleged elephant attack on vehicle
On grounds of this video evidence, did this ellie deserve to die???

Re: alleged elephant attack on vehicle
Certainly not in my opinion
As RP said , he did his best in trying to chase them away . He may have been in musth , as appears when you look very closely , but he does not seem " enraged " , at least not from the start
