Driving along the spit-road , we came onto a place where there were some guys fishing . This is called the “ Fishing hole “ , and is basically a tidal inlet into the spit . During high-tide , fish swim all along the side of the spit , and enter the Fishing hole . When the tide goes down , then there is a sandbar preventing them from getting back to sea , and they circle round and round inside . The water is extremely clear , and you can see these huge salmon and other fish circling around , and when one gets hooked , you can actually see the fish darting all over . And you can hire fishing gear for $10 and catch your own fish .

Oh , and another fact about Homer , which was really the big reason why I wanted to visit it ;-) .
Well , according to my GPS readings at the time , Homer is 17054 kilometers away from Cape Town .

Yeahh , yeahh , so what , you say O** .

Well , according to my reckonings , there is nowhere else on this planet earth that you can so far away from Cape Town , travelling by road . O:V

Hmmmmm. Want to get away from it all ? ;-)

Lisbeth , I did not say travel all the way by road ;-)
In this case , we travelled at least the last few thousand kilometres from Seattle by road ;-)

Surely you are trying to infuriate me, Dewi! But will add to my hate list of 19th/20th century bird namers!

Fascinating, okie! ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

The pistol shooter must surely be categorised as "redneck"?

With more beautiful scenery

Next stop Seward – sitting at the head of Resurrection bay , on the Kenai Peninsula . beautiful little “ city “ and port , with population about 3000 . To go to Seward , we had to drive half-way back to Anchorage first , before taking the only road to and from this gem of a place . Certainly worthwhile to visit .
