Description
A semi-deciduous densly branched shrub
The leaves are alternate, simple and elliptic to obovate to circular, 15-60 mm long, bith sufaces bright green and hairless.
The flowers, borne in axilliary clusters, are cream to greenish. Male and female flowers on separate plants.
Flowering time: August–December.
The fruits are small round, fleshy berries, white when ripe.

Distribution
It is widely distributed in the southern Africa region. In South Africa it occurs naturally in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal. It also occurs in Zimbabwe and Tanzania.

Habitat
Found in deciduous woodland and on forest margins, along rivers and in rocky areas.
