Hibiscus spp come in all shapes (woody shrubs or herbs) and sizes and the dwarfs are only 20 cm tall.

Hi all you good folk out there.

A friend gave me this plant and said it was an Impala Lily but it has different shape leaves to the Impala Lily I already have. This ones leaves are a distinct heart shape.

Looks like Frangipani ( Plumeria ) to me . Has a very sweet smelling flower .

The brown speckled thing is it's flower and it only flowers once a year

It's a starfish flower of the genus Stapelia, and it is a beautiful succulent member of the milkweed family (Asclepiadaceae).

I think, it's Stapelia/Orbea variegata, they come under boths names :-)
