The first two just passed and we were looking at number 3 and then just to the right of this Eland another antelope appeared…. A Roan !!

We were looking at each other… with some huhhhhhhhhhhh???? Looking again and it was no joke … Roan together with Eland on one photo…. Let’s call it a wonderful and special day.
Two Eland and two Roan captured together… what a sighting.

The Eland walked away to the small bush behind the waterhole but the Roan came closer…

Seeing Eland was special but seeing Roan was very special. There are not many Roan left and looking at this small family we were so happy to see a young one with them.

And like the Eland did before these Roan came closer and closer to the road. One of these days….. (smileeeeeeeeeeeeeee)

The two other ones also came closer , family of 4 (dad, mom , teenager and “little” as we called him)

Back on the H1-7 we saw, for us, one of the highlights of this trip. A herd of 7 roan.
I have only ever seen one roan before. What a lovely sight.

Talk about an epic showdown!

This latest sighting sees two lionesses take down a stag roan in a battle that will take you on an emotional roller-coaster.

While on safari in the stunning Okavango Delta, lucky visitor, Sandro Geyser, director of operations at the IntegriSure Group of companies, got to capture quite the dramatic and emotional fight.

The camp staff at Okavango Delta had informed and guided the guests to go spot some lions that were nearby. The group went to go and see the two lionesses lounging in the shade on a scorching day and returned after lunch to see if anything had changed.

"Upon arrival, we noticed there were no lions in the shade, but when we looked to the other side of us we saw the lions already on the roan antelope less than 15 meters from us," Geyser recalls.

Very interesting this! The calls of the roan, the respect the lions have for the horns, the tactics of the lions etc.

I think there are lots of bits missing as the lions made steady attacks on the hindquarters?

The comments of the family are also interesting!

I hate to see an animal suffer! Wish it had been over quicker!

Not my favourite sport either

Boyela is even better for daily Roan in springtime Never saw Eland and Roan together but they came within 10 mins of each other

There are only 35 left in Kruger so the herd at Boyela is nearly half the population

I hope that I will see both sable and roan in February. I'll try Boyela
